The Redcoats and Jacobites were skirmishing and ambushing and providing lots historical information at the Highland Folk Museum today. Really interesting to see their use of authentic clothing, tents and utensils.

A visit to this museum is a must whilst staying in Newtonmore. So much local history. ( and it's free entry)

Thank you to The Strathy for this brilliant article on Sir Tommy Macpherson, who has been honoured in a new Royal Mail stamp issue marking 80 years since the end of the Second World War.

Sir Tommy is regarded as the British Army's most decorated soldier, and many of his military items are proudly on display here at the Clan Macpherson Museum!

Feeling you need a tea and cake stop ? Look 👀 no further than the tea or coffee and cake selection at The Wild Flour in Main Street . This afternoon we enjoyed the fruit scone and jam and the delicious apple and walnut cake. 😋

These tours are really interesting giving a glimpse into social history of the Highlands.

WEEKLY STORE TOURS - 11am every Wednesday

Our popular weekly store tours are starting again from Wednesday 7th May. Book your place to see behind the scenes in the Am Fasgadh collections store.

The purpose built store houses over 15,000 objects, and the varied collection features everything from teaspoons to tractors!

Our volunteer led tours are held every Wednesday at 11am and last approximately one hour. Places are limited and booking is essential, either at the HFM reception booth, on 01349 781650 or [email protected]

There is no set charge but as a charitable organisation, donations are encouraged to support the work of the museum.
