With non-stop services from London to Malé growing in popularity, the Maldives is becoming an easier option not only for honeymooners, but also for families, wellness travellers and those looking for shorter luxury escapes without lengthy stopovers in the Middle East.

The increase in direct capacity could also help ease airfares over time. More competition and greater seat availability on the route may lead to better pricing, particularly outside peak travel seasons, opening the destination up to a wider luxury market.
