Good morning everyone,
My name is Claire Stancliffe, Operations Director (voluntary) at Great Britain Deaf Football. I wanted to share some exciting news about a local resident: 17-year-old Evie Lake has been selected to represent DeaflympicsGB in women’s football at the 2025 Deaflympics in Japan this November! 🇯🇵⚽
This is an incredible honour – but unlike Olympic athletes, our deaf players receive no government funding. Each athlete must raise £4,000 to compete. Evie has already raised around £2,000, but she still needs help to reach her target by this Sunday!!!
As someone who has played at three Deaflympics myself, I can honestly say it’s life-changing. It gives deaf athletes the chance to play without barriers, to meet others like them, and to grow in confidence and skills that last a lifetime. I would hate for Evie to miss out on this opportunity.
