Onuma Sengen Shrine in Nishikatsura Town, Yamanashi Prefecture.
Stepping inside, you are instantly wrapped in a soothing silence and a sacred atmosphere.
The ultimate highlight is the breathtakingly crystal-clear spring water flowing through the grounds.
Fed by the underground flow of Mount Fuji over many years, this pond is known as a holy site where Fuji-ko pilgrims (worshippers of Mount Fuji) used to purify their minds and bodies during their journeys.
■ The History of "Gunnai Orimono" (Gunnai Textiles) Nurtured by Water
Nishikatsura Town has a textile heritage spanning over a thousand years, famous for "Gunnai Orimono."
The pure spring water of this region has nurtured vividly dyed goods and beautiful woven fabrics.
Gazing at the clear water flowing through the shrine, you can truly feel the deep history of how the local textile culture evolved hand-in-hand with water.
■ A Once-in-a-Lifetime View Woven by Nature
In the spring pond, you might see Baikamo (water crowfoot)—tiny white flowers that bloom only in pristine, flowing streams—decorating the water's surface.
Showing a different face with every visit is proof that the rich nature here is truly alive.
Why not spend some soul-soothing time listening to the gentle sound of the clear stream and the chirping of birds?
