TUVKHEN MONASTERY: ROCKY VAJRA-LIKE REFUGE OF BLISSFUL MEDITATION OF PRACTICE AND WISDOM
The monastery of "E Van Gichillin" or "Duvhan" was established at this site in 1653 by the renowned religious and political figure Undur Gegeen Zanabazar, direct descendant of Chinggis Khaan and the first Bogd Javzundamba (religious leader of Mongolia). Its Tibetan name "Duvhan", meaning "place of refuge", was assimilated into the Mongolian language as "Tuvkhen".

Tuvkhen Monastery is a sacred sanctuary for contemplation and meditation. Located at the top of Shiveet-Ulaan mountain in the Khangai Mountain range and within the territory of Bat Ulzii soum of Uvurkhangai province.
