With profound sadness, the Icicles Adventure family mourns the passing of legendary Nepali mountaineer Nirmal "Nimsdai" Purja, along with other members of the expedition, following the tragic avalanche on Broad Peak in Pakistan.

Nimsdai inspired the world with his extraordinary achievements, fearless spirit, and unwavering dedication to the mountains. His legacy will continue to inspire generations of climbers and adventurers.

We fondly recall how many of our clients admired him, eagerly hoped to meet him, and proudly purchased gear from his brand while visiting Nepal. He inspired not only climbers and trekkers, but also countless people around the world. Through his remarkable achievements and documentaries, he played a significant role in showcasing Nepal and its mountaineering heritage on the global stage.

The mountains may produce many great climbers, but legends like Nimsdai are exceptionally rare.

A heartfelt thank you to all of our incredible trekkers and the dedicated Icicles Adventure team who proudly took part in the ‘Carry Me Back Project’ during the Spring 2026 trekking season.
Together, 48 trekkers and guides from our groups carried an impressive 69 kg of waste down from the Everest region, that included 30 kg of tin, 18 kg of cans, and 21 kg of PET bottles.
The Carry Me Back (CMB) program is a collaborative initiative led by the Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee (SPCC) and Sagarmatha Next, together with several partners.
This recyclable waste is collected shredded, packed and prepared for transport by the Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee (SPCC) as part of its ongoing efforts to keep the Everest region clean. It was not generated by our clients or team members. Through the Carry Me Back Project, our trekkers and guides volunteered to carry this waste down to lower elevations, where it could be transported for proper recycling and disposal.
Every step toward Everest Base Camp became a step toward protecting the Himalayas for future generations. We are immensely proud of our clients and team members for demonstrating that responsible travel is just as important as reaching the destination. Trekking in the Himalayas is not only about the adventure—it is also about giving something back to the mountains that inspire us all.
Our sincere thanks to the Carry Me Back Project for leading this meaningful initiative and making it possible for trekkers to contribute to a cleaner EBC trail. We look forward to continuing our commitment to cleaner, greener, and more sustainable trekking in Nepal, one trek at a time.
