On April 13, 1967, The Rolling Stones played two explosive concerts at the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw—and things spiraled completely out of control. What was meant to be a rare performance behind the Iron Curtain ended in pure chaos and riots. With thousands of desperate fans gathered around the Palace and only a fraction holding tickets, the tension between a rigid communist regime and a generation hungry for freedom reached a breaking point. The authorities, overwhelmed by the raw power of Western rock 'n' roll, responded with force, making this one of the most legendary nights in Polish history.

This level of hysteria wasn't just a local phenomenon. Only a few months prior, on September 23, 1966, a "mini-riot" broke out at the Royal Albert Hall in London, where fans famously stormed the stage, forcing the band to flee. Whether in the heart of the UK or behind the Iron Curtain, the impact of the Stones was simply unstoppable.

Want to experience this story for yourself? Book a tour with Martin’s City Tours and walk in the footsteps of rock royalty! During the tour, you will discover exactly where the Stones stayed, the real reason they visited Poland during the Cold War, and the curious story of how they were paid in a country where Western currency was almost non-existent. This isn't just a walk; it’s a journey into the wild side of history.

Majdanek is one of the most significant and well-preserved sites of the Holocaust. Unlike many other camps that were destroyed to hide evidence, Majdanek remains largely intact, offering a profound and direct look into history.

During a 3-hour private tour, we walk through the original barracks, warehouses, gas chambers, and the crematorium. We explore the harsh realities of daily life for the prisoners and witness the site where the systematic, industrial murder of approximately 80,000 people took place. We will also discuss the camp's strategic role within Operation Reinhard and the significance of the camp’s location right in the city of Lublin.

As a certified guide, I provide the necessary context and historical depth to help you process this essential chapter of our past.

Sobibor was, as part of “Aktion Reinhardt,” one of the N**i extermination camps. It operated from spring 1942 until 14 October 1943. During this time, approximately 180,000 people were murdered during the Holocaust. Among the victims were more than 34,000 Dutch Jews and more than 24,000 Slovak Jews.

On 14 October 1943, prisoners organized the famous Sobibor uprising, killing several SS men and attempting a mass escape. About 300 prisoners broke out, and around 50 survived the war. It was a painful defeat for the N**is and led to the closure of the extermination camp.

Martin’s City Tours is a licensed guide service offering guided tours in Sobibor, as well as transportation to Sobibor from Warsaw and Lublin. Tours are available in Dutch and English. The visit can also be combined with a tour of the synagogue complex in Włodawa.

Propaganda hidden in Warsaw's Old Town? 🧱🏗️

Most people walk right past it, but on one of the facades in Warsaw's Old Town, you'll find a striking detail: a frieze full of communist propaganda.

It depicts scenes of "rebuilding the capital together"—a classic example of social realism set right in the middle of the historical reconstructions.
