We asked our favorite leaf forecaster, Howard Neufeld, aka Fall Color Guy, what's coming this fall. Luckily for us, he's been reading these mountains for years, so here's his take on what to expect.

Good news first: the drought that worried us back in June has basically packed up and left, and the trees are looking strong. Even better, the odds are in our favor, since peak color in the mountains hits mid-October almost every year.

The plot twist? We're baking through a heat wave right now, and warm Septembers have a habit of making the leaves show up fashionably late. Cooler temps are on the horizon, and if they show up soon, this could be a fall people talk about for years.
