It's hard to believe that a week ago today we were celebrating on Copacabana Beach after an incredible weekend in Rio.

More than 70 runners and guests from 12 nationalities came together to race, explore, and experience the magic of Rio Marathon 2026.

From Christ the Redeemer and the beaches of Rio to the 21K and 42K finish lines, it was a weekend filled with personal bests, first marathons, new friendships, and unforgettable memories.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made this such a special weekend.

Around 70,000 runners are about to take over Rio de Janeiro.

This weekend, June 7, the Maratona do Rio rolls out the biggest street running festival in Latin America. Marathon, half marathon, 10K, and 5K all on the same weekend.

The course is what runners travel for. Sea level. Mostly flat. Hugging the Atlantic from Barra da Tijuca through Ipanema and Copacabana, with the finish at Aterro do Flamengo and Sugarloaf Mountain watching over the field.

It carries a World Athletics Road Race Label, so the field mixes elites chasing fast times with first-time marathoners chasing the bucket-list moment.

The catch is the weather. Heat and humidity show up early in Rio, and the second half of the course is where it bites.

If your social feeds look like a postcard on Sunday, now you know why.

Rio Day 3 🇧🇷🏃‍♂️

Race day for our half marathon runners.

An early start in the dark, followed by 21.1km along Rio’s stunning coastline as the sun rose over the city.

After crossing the finish line, our runners enjoyed access to the VIP finish area before spending the morning celebrating with fellow runners at the post-race festivities.

Congratulations to everyone who took on the half marathon today. Whether you were chasing a personal best, your first half marathon finish, or simply soaking up the atmosphere.

Now it’s time to cheer on our marathon runners tomorrow.

Rio Day 2 🇧🇷

Full day exploring Rio with our Signature crew.

We started high above the city at Christ the Redeemer, before heading through Rio’s historic centre, stopping at the Metropolitan Cathedral and the colourful Selarón Steps.

From there it was lunch at Cais do Oriente, a visit to the marathon expo, and then up to Sugarloaf for those unbelievable views over the city.

A packed day, but you’re only in Rio once - well, until Rio Marathon 2027 😃

Tomorrow, our half marathon runners are up. The race weekend is officially here.

Race day in Rio. 🇧🇷

One of the world’s most beautiful marathon courses, and our Race Beyond runners are underway.

We caught the elite field fly through before settling in to cheer on our own runners as they take on 26.2 miles along Rio’s spectacular coastline.

Morning run along Copacabana before heading to the expo to collect and sort bibs for our 70 runners.

Our Signature guests start arriving today, with the Rio Highlights Tour kicking off tomorrow as we explore some of the city’s most iconic sights.

The city is starting to come alive with Rio Marathon buzz, and it’s great to see the excitement building ahead of race weekend. 🇧🇷🏃‍♂️
