One little project completed! ✅

Jeanne and I are excitedly preparing for two events coming up in October featuring Hershey Pup and our Hershey Pup Adventures children’s book! 📚 📖 🐶

Hershey Pup has been invited back to the Benjamin Banneker Elementary School for their annual 1st grade reading program! We and Hershey will again be visiting 9 first grade classes during their special reading times. 📚🐶

We will also be participating in a “Meet The Authors & Hershey Pup” event at Yarn & Bone Pet Supply in Milford, DE!

Hershey Pup will be greeting his fans, welcoming belly-rubs, and personally “pawtographing” copies of his kids’ book for them. 📚 🐾🐾 🐶

So, we needed to make up some new T-shirts for the events. 👕 👚 We love how they came out! 👍

Took the boys (Hershey Pup and lil’ Rascal) for a walk at the Goat Island Nature Trail in Milford, DE today. It was HOT out, but they had fun. 🐶🐶🐾🐾

Today, Jeanne Gage Anderson, lil’ Rascal, and I took Hershey Pup (7 1/2) for a cardiology exam and consultation at CVCA in Annapolis, Maryland.

Our local Veterinarian heard a slight murmur in his heart at his annual exam. Degenerative Heart Valve Disease (DVD) is, sadly, a very common condition in the Cavalier King Charles spaniel breed. We knew that at the outset. ❤️

The cardiologist did indeed diagnose Hershey with DVD as he has mild leakage/regurgitation in his mitral heart valve. Fortunately, it is very mild with no other symptoms. His heart is otherwise healthy, not enlarged, and functioning well.

This gives us a solid baseline with which to monitor his DVD condition going forward. No medication or treatment is indicated at this time, but we’re going to monitor it carefully over the coming year.

Hershey Pup was a real trooper during the exam, getting prodded and probed, and having the echocardiogram performed.
Lil’ brother Rascal was with him the whole time for moral support! 🐶🐶🐾🐾

The cardiologist and all the staff at Cardiac Care For Pets (CVCA - Annapolis) were wonderful and gave Hershey Pup lots of loving!🥰

I needed a little TLC, too, after the $1,021 visit fee was sucked out of our credit card. 😂 🤷‍♂️ Hoping we can get back a little of that through Hershey’s “Healthy Paws” pet insurance policy. 🤞🤞

Got back to the car with the parked-car temperature reading 111° 😳 🥵 Within a few miles, though, it cooled right down to 104°. Weeeeee! Hershey Pup and Rascal just slept on the 2+ hour drive home.

The pups were HOT on their walk around Goat Island Nature Trail today! Whew!
Hershey Pup and lil’ Rascal had a blast meeting two new sweet Cavalier friends!! All four pups were so good with each other and they slept the rest of the afternoon! 🐶 💤💤 😁

Kings Homemade Ice Cream in Milton, DE!

I was walking Hershey, Pup and Rascal, tried to walk, right past Kings Homemade, but Hershey Pup stopped us in our tracks and he went straight to their door! 😂 🍦

So, of course, we got ice cream. Hershey Pup had his usual and little Rascal has now had his very first ice cream treat. Happy pups, they were! And I was happy with my sundae, too!

Did a great hike with Hershey Pup and lil’ Rascal at Abbott’s Mill Pond Nature Center and Preserve. These two are learning to hike together well!

Hershey Pup, Rascal and I did a nice hike through Milford Ponds Nature Preserve at Abbott’s Mill Nature Center and the Isaac Tract Preserve.
