In Moose, Wyoming, in Grand Teton National Park, sits a small enclave of buildings nestled in a meadow of sage and sticky geranium. It was here, at the Murie Ranch, that the Wilderness Act of 1964 and the modern conservation movement were born. The ranch was named for conservationists, ecologists and married couples Margaret (Mardy) and Olaus Murie, and Adolph and Louise Murie. The Muries purchased the STS dude ranch in 1945, which served as their home and a hub for the conservation movement.

In 2015, the Murie Ranch became a campus of Teton Science Schools, and it hosts daylong and residential programming for youth, adults and families. We encourage you to visit to learn more about this historical landmark and become part of its enduring legacy.

A fun must-do for visitors: Twenty-five years after it first premiered in Jackson Hole, "Petticoat Rules" — a homegrown musical — returns to the stage at the Pink Garter Theatre, located on Town Square, with a brand-new ensemble of local talent. Performances run May 23 - June 14.

Presented by Tumbleweed Creative Arts, the musical is based on the true story of the 1920 all-woman Town Council that led Jackson with grit, humor and no-nonsense leadership. "Petticoat Rules" is a musical reclamation of Jackson Hole history, with actors stepping into the boots of the women (and men) who helped shape this valley. See history come alive!

A budget-friendly vacation in Jackson Hole is entirely doable. Really! Let us arm you with the knowledge and the numbers of which lodging, restaurants, tours, and attractions can cost you less during your vacation here in the Tetons. 🤑👍🍽🏔

But remember, after all is said and done, you will find the experience of being here really is pretty priceless. 😉

For cheapskates, there are actually a lot of things you can do, see and eat — plus find places to stay — that are wallet-friendly. Summer on the cheap in Jackson Hole is entirely possible.
