How viable do we think these electric vans are as campervans? Obviously range and 2wd will pose problems but there will be some people who they work well for. Love to hear your thoughts!
Rivian Expands Commercial Van Sales to Fleets of All Sizes
Rivian has officially opened the doors for businesses of all sizes to order its highly anticipated Commercial Vans, including the Delivery 500 and Delivery 700 models. This marks a major step forward as Rivian broadens its offering beyond the exclusive deal with Amazon that has been in place until now.
With this new opportunity, businesses can place orders for as few as one van or scale up to a full fleet, meeting a wide range of operational needs. The vans are designed with safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness in mind, featuring advanced systems like automatic emergency braking, collision warnings, and 360-degree visibility. Rivian's cutting-edge software manages everything from vehicle access to charging, helping businesses streamline their operations and reduce overall expenses.
The performance of the Delivery vans is equally impressive. They offer a payload capacity of up to 2,663 lbs and a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 9,500 lbs. The Delivery 500 delivers an estimated range of 161 miles, while the Delivery 700 offers 160 miles, exceeding the initial range estimate of 153 miles.
Amazon has already integrated these vans into its logistics network, with over 20,000 units in service, contributing to the delivery of over one billion packages in 2024. Now, Rivian is ready to extend its innovative electric commercial vehicles to a broader audience, providing businesses with an exciting new option in the world of electric fleet solutions.
