Our second day of our trip was our Animal Kingdom Day. We skipped the Lightning Lane Multipass for this day to save $300, and just got the Single Lightning Lane for Flight of Passage. To get in everything we wanted to do with minimal wait, we got to the park 30 minutes BEFORE Early Entry started. We went straight to Expedition Everest because this was at the top of the list for what we wanted to accomplish. They opened the park right at 7:30. We were riding by 7:39. Ethan and I rode it twice, but many of our kiddos ran back in to ride it a 3rd time as basically a walk on. After that, we headed to the Safari - got a Dole Whip Float on the way. :-) The Safari was definitely the longest wait of the day - maybe the trip? I'm not sure. We waited about 25 minutes. Not too bad - the line got up to 75 minutes later in the day. (Made a reel of our Safari, it was so good!) From the Safari we went immediately to the first Lion King show of the day at 10:00. Our Lightning Lane for FOP was from 9:45-10:45 so we headed straight there after the Lion King show. Thus getting all our "must dos" out of the way before lunch.
We ate lunch at because it is, in my opinion, truly one of the best quick service meals in the parks.
After that ya'll, I was pooped. I still had 15-hour-day-in-Magic-kingdom hangover. Our kids spent the afternoon in , but Ethan and I went back to our cabin for a nap. I think I was asleep before my head hit the pillow.
But we only napped an hour and headed back for our dinner reservation at . I think lots of our crew rode Expedition Everest a couple more times before the day ended.
Honestly, it was a really great day. The heat was surface of the sun. I think the heat index for our whole trip hovered around 100. We have NEVER gone to Disney in the May-August months. We are fall and winter Disney goers, so the heat was an adjustment. We made good use of cooling towels and drank gobs of water and Gatorade. :-)
