The MR145 was cancelled due to low water. The river level just below the start of the race and for the first almost half of the 145miles is currently classified as "scrapeable". The lower river races of the Mississippi River Opener are still on. Hoping the water level is better in 2027!

Gear check for the upcoming Mississippi River 145 race! I am participating in the recreational tour division as a solo self supported. My route will be slightly shorter, around ~135 miles. The Encounter has served me well in the past and this will be the first trip for my new Heavy Duty Bills Bag.

I don't pack in a minimalist style but I like to be able to one trip solo portage and still be comfortable if I need to pull off and set up camp.

I'm excited to get the encounter rigged of for its first endurance paddle of the season! Heading out solo and self-supported in the recreational tour division. It would be great to have a few people join me in this group! Its a great way to paddle rivers at night with as much safety support as possible!
