“What should we do after safari?” We’ve answered that question the same way for years: the w**elands, and this estate in particular.

Delaire Graff belongs to diamond dealer Laurence Graff and crowns the Helshoogte Pass between Stellenbosch and Franschhoek, with just 16 lodges facing the vineyards, each with a heated pool and terrace. How do you choose among Maldives resorts that all promise blue water and overwater villas? Start with personality.

Joali is the memorable one. Where other resorts hang a few prints, Joali suspended a life-size manta ray in the trees and put a dining table inside it. Where others plant coral frames, Joali sank sculptures on the reef and let the coral move in. Even the butlers refuse to be ordinary here. The title is Jadugar, which translates to magician.

Hey everyone! If you are new around here, I thought it was about time to properly re-introduce myself. I am a Midwesterner at heart and a proud mom of three, and my love for travel actually started way back when I lived in Rome and met my husband.

Travel has completely changed my perspective on life. It is such a humbling reminder of how fabulous this great big world is and what a small part we play in it, while always pushing me just a little outside my comfort zone. Some of my absolute favorite memories on the road include experiencing Midnight Mass in Bethlehem, people watching in Red Square, riding a camel at sunset over the Pyramids, and watching the Northern Lights dance while dog sledding in Finland.

As for the day-to-day travel habits, you will always find me on team aisle seat, happily fueled by lattes, margaritas, and a classic pairing of a Diet Coke and Cheez-Its. I never leave home without a sleep mask and Burt’s Bees, and I fully believe in judging a hotel by its turndown service. Next up on the bucket list are Vietnam, Thailand, and the Galápagos Islands. The Orient Express is now a ship. Not just any ship: the largest sailing yacht ever built.

Corinthian began sailing this summer, and the numbers barely capture it. Three masts rising 328 feet. Just 54 suites across 722 feet of yacht. Five restaurants overseen by Michelin-starred chef Yannick Alléno, plus a 1930s-style speakeasy and a Parisian cabaret at sea.

The interiors reinterpret the golden age of ocean liners with contemporary French craftsmanship, and the itineraries are refreshingly flexible: voyages of one to four nights that combine without repeating a single port.

Planning Portugal and only thinking about Lisbon? Allow us to make the case for the north.

Porto is one of Europe’s great second cities, and Infante Sagres is its grande dame.

Opened in 1951 as the city’s first luxury hotel, it has hosted royalty, heads of state, and film stars ever since. The stained-glass staircase alone is worth walking up and down twice.
