Sea turtle nesting season update:

It’s been a busy week! Over the last 7 days, 160+ nests were documented, and the season total is now 500+ nests.

Patrols have been especially active—at least a few West End survey days reached 20+ nests.

All that effort is translating into what could be a really exceptional season. We’re ahead of this time in 2025, and it’s possible that 2026 could be in the mix for a record season.

Our night tagging program has documented 168 turtle encounters (165 loggerheads and 3 greens). We’ve also encountered at least one turtle that was first tagged in each year of the program (2016–2025).

Unfortunately, coyotes have depredated 91 nests.
