After 3 weekends of camping we already have a few new favourites and have brought back some camping meal staples. I have to admit though, I love a BLT sandwich. You can literally eat a BLT for any meal and it's something we pretty much make every camping trip in some variation.

As part of our planning I always research the area we're camping in advance to see if there's a local restaurant, snack shack, or brewery with food that we want to visit and adjust our meals and food packing accordingly.

Plus, we're always on the hunt for ice cream 🍦 😋

What are your favourite (easy) meals to make while camping?

Back with another trail and ales pairing! But this time, we tested out 6 trails and 3 breweries in the Chatham-Kent area.

Save this for future if you're looking for a hike and beer pairing!

Let me break it down for you! The first 4 trails are located in Rondeau Provincial Park, and the other two are nearby in Earieau.

🥾 Black Oak Trail
🌳 Beautiful treed path, excellent for birders watching, very leisurely

🥾 Spicebush Trail
🐍 Accessible trail, multiple boardwalks, I saw a snake on this one! Beautiful in the sunshine

🥾 Tulip Tree Trail
🍃 Fantastic scenery, lots of long boardwalks and marshy scenery. This trail was very popular with the birders

🥾 Marsh Trail
🌿 This was a long linear trail along Rondeau Bay, great for biking and had a nice breeze

🥾 Mcgeachy Pond Trail
🌊 Located along Lake Erie with great water views, the trail was very flat and well groomed plus there was a viewing tower!

🥾 Erieau Marsh Trail
🐢 This was a linear trail and had a great view of a pond with swans and turtles, we didn't do the full trail but enjoyed the scenery

Shakedown success!!

But, there were still a few things we forgot to bring and our set up routine was a bit slower as we remembered all the steps.

Early spring camping is always hit or miss for weather, so we definitely had a mix.

Luckily we brought lots of layers and rain coats for the cold and stormy weather we had Saturday afternoon and evening.

And shout out to my hubby for his towing and reverse parking skills 👌 A+ (with minimal help from me when it came to directions 😅)

Our day in Belize City was great! We loved getting a highlight of the area, learning more about the history, sightseeing, and trying some authentic Belizean foods.

Plus, back in the port area we were also able to try 2 different style local beers brewed in Belize (Belikin Beer) which is always a highlight for us craft beer lovers.

It would be a beautiful destination to return to and see more of the country. Plus there seemed to be a lot of adventurous activities and tours you can do here if you're interested in that kind of thing (I'm not adventurous, in case that wasn't made clear!)
