One thing we've come to appreciate over the years is just how much of a difference a great tour guide can make!

Of course, it's about knowing the wildlife, history, flora and fauna, but it's also about so much more. It's about bringing people together, handling the unexpected with confidence, making everyone feel included, and creating the kind of moments that guests remember long after the tour has ended.

At the end of our recent African Adventure tour with 25 Australians, the group presented Chris Kruger with a card filled with heartfelt messages. Reading through their kind words was a wonderful reminder of the impact a great tour guide can have and the connections that are made along the way.

Last Friday, we joined Natural Wanders' Wine Stories at the cosy wine bar next to Grub & Wine on Bree Street, and it completely exceeded our expectations.

This is so much more than a wine tasting. As each wine was poured, the stories of the people who helped shape South Africa's wine industry unfolded, bringing over 200 years of history to life. The carefully curated sound effects and music added so much to the atmosphere, making every story even more engaging.

If you're looking to experience Cape Town from a different perspective, this is one to add to your list. It's a memorable evening that combines great wine, rich history and captivating storytelling.

Meet the team behind the journeys.
Madel, the quiet force behind Sidewalk Africa Travels. ✨

Every unforgettable journey has a team working behind the scenes to make sure everything runs seamlessly, and for us, that's Madel.

As our Office Manager, she keeps our finance and administration running like clockwork. With an incredible eye for detail and a calm, organised approach, she's the person making sure everything is in place so the rest of the team can focus on creating exceptional journeys across Southern Africa.

Madel loves solving problems, supporting the team, and knowing that her work plays a part in helping travellers create lifelong memories, even if she's usually behind the scenes.

When she's not in the office, you'll most likely find her exploring Cape Town's wine farms, trying a new coffee spot, enjoying good food with family and friends, or discovering somewhere new. Fun fact: before joining the tourism industry, Madel studied opera and still loves to perform whenever she gets the chance! 🎶

For Madel, travel is all about connection, creating memories, sharing experiences, and seeing the world from a new perspective.
