Trail Description
Embark on a 20-kilometre epic traverse of Table Mountain’s eastern slopes, starting at the iconic Kloof Corner and ending at the lush Constantia Nek. This long but scenic trail takes you along one of the most varied and rewarding routes on the Cape Peninsula.
From exposed rocky ledges to shaded forest paths, this hike offers a bit of everything.
🗺️ Highlights Along the Way
Kloof Corner Viewpoint
Right at the start, you’ll get a 360-degree view over Cape Town, Lion’s Head, and the Atlantic coastline. It's one of the most photographed sunset spots in the city.
Platteklip Gorge Cross-over
You’ll skirt past the Platteklip Gorge, the most popular route to the summit of Table Mountain, and feel the change in terrain as you transition to less-traveled parts of the mountain.
Devil’s Peak Contour Path
As we follow the contour path beneath Devil’s Peak, enjoy spectacular views of the city bowl and Table Bay, while being surrounded by indigenous fynbos and proteas. The sheer cliffs above and the drop-offs below make this section both humbling and dramatic.
Newlands Ravine & Forest
We descend into Newlands Forest, where you'll be wrapped in shaded beauty. The trail here becomes lush and cooler, surrounded by towering trees, moss-covered rocks, and the sounds of hidden streams. Expect birdsong, damp earth, and dappled light—pure magic.
Cecilia Forest & Constantia Greenbelt
Emerging from the more rugged terrain, the route eventually joins with the Cecilia Forest trails, offering gentler paths and the fragrant scent of pine trees as we make our way to the finish.
Finish at Constantia Nek
The trail concludes at Constantia Nek, where you can unwind, take photos, and even treat yourself to a drink or bite to eat at the nearby restaurants (La Parada or the Constantia Nek market, if open).
