Marine Dynamics is a world-recognized shark cage diving company located in Kleinbaai, Western Cape near Gansbaai. It is our mission to replace fiction with fact about sharks by engaging with them as they are naturally- cool, calm, collected, and calculated. Slashfin, our purpose-built cage-diving vessel, is the most modern vessel launched in 2010. The premier safety and comfort on board have set n

ew standards in the cage-diving industry. Safety is our top priority and we spare no expense. Marine Dynamics supports critically important research on white sharks as well as many other species in Gansbaai. Only through understanding can you educate, and only through education can we conserve - and that is our motto, "Discover & Protect!"

Whether cage diving is on the top of your bucket list, part of a life-long passion for sharks, or you seek to further protect them - Marine Dynamics is the only company that can provide the best experience for everyone!

The first five days of September have been busy around the cage.

Bronze whaler sharks have been the stars around the boat on our trips.
We’ve also had:
• Short-tail stingrays
• Cape fur seals
• African penguins
• Southern Right whales
• And a Southern Right whale mother and calf

And then there’s Loke, our familiar Bronze whaler, who made another appearance.

This is why we keep our Daily Sightings blog, because the best way to know what is happening on the water is to look at what was actually recorded that day.

Joining us for shark cage diving? Here’s what your day looks like from the moment you arrive.

Your adventure starts at our Great White House, where you’ll meet your Marine Guide and enjoy breakfast or lunch, depending on your trip time.

You’ll then check in and get ready for the day. If you’ve completed your online pre-check-in before arriving, it makes the process even easier.

Your guide will check your wetsuit and bo**ie sizes to make sure you’re comfortable. We provide a clean, dry 5mm wetsuit and bo**ies, a life jacket and an orange weather jacket before heading down to Slashfin.

Before we head out, your Marine Guide will take you through a safety briefing and chat to you about what to expect at sea, including the sharks and other marine species you may encounter.

What to bring:
• Swimwear
• A change of clothes
• Sunscreen
• Anti-nausea medication, if needed; please take it at least two hours before departure, as we cannot provide medication
• Your camera; waterproof phone bags are available at our Currier Shop
• A warm jacket
• Prescription masks, if needed — our masks may fit over glasses, but contact lenses are recommended

After your time in the water, you can warm up with a fresh towel, warm blanket and hot shower rinse. We also have light snacks and hot drinks on board.

Now all that’s left is to get in the cage and see what the ocean brings that day.

Think you need to be a diver to go shark cage diving?

You don’t. No scuba qualification or previous diving experience and you don’t need to be an adrenaline ju**ie either.

Our shark cage diving experience welcomes people of different ages and abilities. All the equipment is provided, and once you’re on board, we take care of the rest.

There are snacks, drinks, towels and everything you need for a comfortable day on the water.

And while you’re out there, our biologists are observing, recording and learning about the sharks. We don’t feed them. Conservation and research are at the heart of what we do.

Maybe shark cage diving isn’t quite what you thought it was.

🦈 EXCITING NEWS! Loke (Loki) is BACK! 🎉
Last seen on 12 November last year, this familiar shark has finally returned! We’re keeping our fingers crossed that he sticks around for a few days. 🤞
Loke is known not only for his striking white scar, but also for the incredible energy and excitement he brings to our trips whenever he makes an appearance! 💙🦈
Welcome back, Loke, we’ve missed you!

EVERYONE IS TALKING ABOUT SPRING.
WE’RE THINKING ABOUT WHAT’S HAPPENING UNDERWATER.

September is Tourism Month, and spring is starting to show itself above the surface. Warmer days, longer afternoons and flowers blooming along the coast.

But beneath the surface, the Bronze Whalers have their own story.

They can be seen in groups around the shark boats, sometimes with several sharks around the cage. There is no feeding. Our biologists watch, record and learn from what they see.

That is what makes a day on the water so interesting. You never quite know what you are going to see, because the animals are not there for us. We are there to observe them.

So while spring gives us another reason to get outside, we think there is a pretty good reason to look below the surface too.

The Dyer Island ecosystem is waiting.

August, you gave us plenty to look back on.

September is here, and spring has arrived in South Africa. Before we get too far into the new month, we’re taking a look back at some of our favourite photographs from August.

Bronze whalers at the cage, broadnose sevengill sharks, Cape fur seals, African penguins, short-tail stingrays and plenty of moments that had guests watching closely from the boat.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us in August and shared part of their day on the water with us.

Now, onto September. We’re looking forward to seeing what the month brings.
