Garden Route & Klein Karoo is a popular region known for its picturesque golf courses, sparkling coastlines, culture and heritage and its wide variety of activities. In addition to that, Garden Route & Klein Karoo is fast earning a reputation as an exciting gourmet destination too.

Garden Route & Klein Karoo has an abundance of local ingredients including the finest coffee, seafood; venison fruits and vegetables, which sets the stage for truly unforgettable tastings. History, heritage, culture – the GR&KK presents any visitor a wealth of opportunities to experience and explore these gems, with ‘ostrich palaces’ built by 19th century ostrich industry ‘feather barons’, spectacular mountain passes, world renowned Cango Caves, and 15 Century Caravel at Mossel Bay.

The Garden Route and Klein Karoo offers golf courses tailor made to your taste. The Garden Route boasts with 12 top golf courses, eight of which are championship courses.

The ancient fish traps of Still Bay are remarkable reminders of the ingenuity and resourcefulness of early coastal inhabitants.

These stone structures are believed to be some of the oldest human-made tidal fish traps still visible today and were thoughtfully constructed to exploit the motion of the tides to catch fish sustainably along the coastline.

Visitors can experience this fascinating piece of living heritage and enjoy the natural beauty of the coastline and experience the rich cultural history of the region.

For 30 years, Aloe Ferox has been part of Albertinia’s story , growing from an indigenous South African plant into a journey of heritage, local enterprise and opportunity. 🇿🇦

We had the opportunity to chat with Leo, one of the founders of Aloe Ferox, who took us behind the story of the business, its roots in Albertinia, and the remarkable plant that has become part of the town’s identity.
