Opera Queensland’s La Cenerentola was a delight to revisit, blooming again at QPAC last month with magnificent costumes, excellent comedic timing, and astonishing voices. This semi-staged Cinderella story was sans fairy godmothers and glass slippers, but love and kindness triumphed in a flurry of flower petals. Read my full review online now 💐✨️

Camerata - Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra shakes things up with Revolution Remixed, a program packed with bold ideas and big emotion.

At the centre is Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 Eroica, a work that rewrote the rules of orchestral music and still feels powerful, dramatic and modern. In striking contrast is Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, in chamber arrangement by Australian composer Julian Yu. Inspired by an art exhibition, these musical vignettes transform sketches into soundscapes that sparkle with connection and curiosity.

A chimney full of straw orphans, Marie Antoinette’s croquet mallet, and a very bloody pastry: Murder Village: An Improvised Whodunnit returned to Brisbane Comedy Festival for more improvised murder and mystery.

Wonderfully unhinged, hysterically entertaining, and consistently excellent, Murder Village adds a new spin to the long storytelling tradition of small-town murder mysteries. Different every time, it is worth seeing again and again.

Daniel Bruschweiler's stand-up hour Square Peg, Bonus Hole tackles masculinity, relationships, and navigating the world as one of the internet’s favourite punching bags: a millennial (with some trans stuff thrown in, but luckily no one hates trans people).

A night of absurd, self-aware comedy that strips away society’s expectations and asks the big questions: Who are we supposed to be? Who are we really? And why does Daniel, deep down, just wants to be Jason Statham with hair?

Playing 7-10 May at BRISBANE POWERHOUSE as part of Brisbane Comedy Festival

It’s not quite a musical, it’s not quite a play, it’s not quite a summer camp: Salad Days Collective 's Sunny Tribe District at PIP Theatre was thin on plot, thick on innuendo, and big on character, delivered with full commitment to the chaos and comedy the work demanded.
