The house is set in beautiful wooded grounds in the village of Bridge of Cally nestled just south of the Cairngorms National Park boundary. ea is a stunning self catering property with everything the hill walker, skier and cyclist or anyone looking to escape the rat race could ask. The house is well equipped with a sauna, cosy wood burning stove, secure bike storage and a large equipment room with boot drying area and ski racks. Being so close to superb hill walking and mountain biking trails Balnabea is the ideal base for groups and families who are looking for a comfortable retreat to escape to at the end of a day of adventures. The pretty Highland towns of Pitlochry and Blairgowrie are both a short drive away as is the village of Braemar, home to the Queen’s Scottish residence Balmoral and of course the famous Braemar Highland Gathering so there are plenty of attractions close by

Glenshee Ski Centre is looking good for half term skiing!
If anyone is looking for last minute skiing in Scotland, Balnabea is available for bookings and only 30 minutes from the slopes!

Morning,

A93 open.

Some fresh snowfall overnight, currently zero at roadside level, with 20 mph wind from the north so cold. Moderate winds and -3 on summit ridge, winds easing as the day goes on and we may even see the sun :)

We will be running Baddoch Chairlift, Cairnwell T-bar, Claybokie, Plastic, D**k D**k and Rope Tow today.

Red & Blue race track and Bunny run are open, these are thin in places but with last night's snow and drifting these are continuing to improve and will be groomed today to help this.

Due to personal circumstances, Balnabea will cease to be a holiday let from August 2025. We still have plenty of availability up until then for anyone wishing to book a trip to rural Perthshire.

A reminder that tomorrow, Wednesday 24 July, the A93 at Bridge of Cally will be closed for essential bridge repairs between 8am and 8pm.

We apologise for any inconvenience this necessary closure may cause and we aim to reopen the road as soon as possible once the works are complete.

Please follow diversion signs during the closure - the official diversion route will be via the A924, A9 trunk road, A984 and A93.

Beautiful day at Glenshee today.

Wow, what a great day that was 😎.

Blue skies, fresh snow, cold and no queues.

Along with Plastc, D**k D**k and Rope Tow we opened, Sunnyside, Baddoch Chair and Claybokie. We also opened Cairnwell T Bar, blue race track was fab, red was for experts and Bunny run gave an easier descent. Lots and lots of off piste in between these. Tomorrow we are hoping to add Butcharts Access into the mix 😁.

Beginners area, sledging and Sunnyside are accessable from the carpark and the remainder via the Baddoch Chair or Plastic Tow.

Tomorrow's forecast is looking good again, for those of you who can join us, some snow showers in the morning, -7 through the day and the potential of sunny spells in the afternoon.

No expected snow overnight so hopefully no issues with the road in the morning.

This morning, we treated ourselves to a lovely fry up for breakfast. The very yummy beef sliced sausage, venison bacon, and venison black pudding is from our local , which is ideally located 10 minutes up the road from Balnabea

We would encourage our guests to check out their larder/shop during their stay with us for some of the local produce! You won't be disappointed 😋
