I was lucky enough to call the home for many years. And I still get to visit often.

Only an hour from Edinburgh, The Borders is a magical place. Unspoilt, unhurried and, as a tourist destination, undiscovered.

After only about 20 years of meaning to do it (no exaggeration 😄), I finally took a boat trip today to Craigleith Island to see the puffins.

We were lucky with a beautiful morning on the water and saw lots of puffins 🐧

They are completely captivating … although I quickly realised that they’re not the easiest thing to photograph on an iPhone when they’re bobbing about or flying past at speed!

A few fun puffin facts I learned today:

🐧 Puffins mate for life 💕
🐧 A group of puffins can be called a circus, a puffinry, or an improbability
🐧 They only weigh around 500g, but they’re incredibly strong and can dive to depths of up to 70 metres in search of food.

Such a special morning. I’m taking a proper camera next time 😉 ❤️

Travel Lightly turns 3 today ✈️🎉

Three years ago today, I launched Travel Lightly. I was filled with excitement, hopeful, and had absolutely no idea what the years ahead would bring.

At the beginning, I thought my job was about finding beautiful places, lovely hotels and putting together fantastic holidays.

And of course, it is.

But what I didn’t fully get is just how important travel can be in people’s lives.

A holiday is rarely just a holiday.

Sometimes it’s a honeymoon, a special birthday, precious family time, a long-awaited trip, or a chance for people to make memories they never thought they’d have.

For some, it’s a quick escape. For others, it’s the trip of a lifetime.

Whatever the reason, people trust me with something really important; their time, their hard-earned money, and moments that truly matter to them. That trust is something I never take lightly.

These last three years have brought incredible experiences, wonderful clients, lovely friendships, lots of learning. And personally, some moments I never could have anticipated too.

Through it all, one thing hasn’t changed: I genuinely love helping people create memories all over the world.

To everyone who has booked, recommended, supported, followed, liked, shared, or simply cheered me on from the sidelines … thank you ❤️

I’m incredibly grateful.

An evening well spent! ✈️🌴

This evening I attended a fantastic Travel Connect event focused on the Middle East and Indian Ocean.

Events like these are so important in helping me stay up to date with what’s happening in travel, strengthening supplier relationships and ensuring I’m always bringing the very best knowledge, contacts and opportunities back to my Travel Lightly clients.

Current global events make travel to parts of the region tricky. Keeping ahead now means I’ll be well placed to help clients plan confidently when travel options to the region open up again.
