There are many ways to love Britain’s history. HeritageXplore Club is how you experience the kind that’s still unfolding - overnight stays, suppers, evenings and encounters inside the houses that never stopped being homes. Drop a 🏰 and we’ll show you what we mean.

The books that shaped our Founding Committee. 📖

We asked Alice Tapfield, Stella Long, Aimée Coates, and Victoria Rose to share the reads that have stayed with them - the ones that unlocked a house, a period, a life, and have left an indelible mark.

There is much more where this came from inside the HeritageXplore Book Club. Every edition, every discussion, every author evening - will be led by this very committee.

Our next edition begins 31st May. Book Club access is included with HeritageXplore Club membership - £20 a year. Follow the link in bio to join us.

Today, Chelsea Flower Show opens its doors (or garden gates) for its 113th year.

What started in 1913 as one lone marquee has blossomed into the eleven-acre assortment of colour, design and craftwork we see today.

Gardens have long been the meeting point between nature and the artist, allowing us to bask in the curated beauty of formal symmetry, or weave through the paths of rebellious vines. Luckily, many of the best examples can still be enjoyed at historic houses across Britain - here’s just a few highlights from some of our wonderful member houses.

The pews have seen sermons. They’ve seen weddings. They had not, until now, seen comedy.

On 8th May, Stansted Hall’s Chapel of St Paul hosted a night of stand-up unlike anything in its 200-year history - candlelit, magnificent, and completely ridiculous in the best possible way.

Next up: Coughton Court, 24th July - the same laughter awaits, this time, tucked amongst the borders of their award-winning gardens.

The time has come to unveil our next HeritageXplore Book Club read. 📖

This season, we’ll be delving into The Secret Rooms by Catherine Bailey - a remarkable true story of secrecy, scandal and survival centred around Belvoir Castle.

Inspired by extensive historical research, private letters, diaries and archival material, the book unravels one of the most compelling mysteries to emerge from a British country house in the twentieth century.

We’ll be kicking off with our first live discussion on Sunday 31st May, led by a member of the HeritageXplore Book Club Committee, with a second session to follow later in the season.

Read at your own pace, join the conversations that interest you, and discover the stories behind Britain’s historic houses alongside readers from around the world. We hope that you will join us.

The Book Club is one of the many perks of HeritageXplore Club membership. Join via the link in bio, then head to our Book Club page to sign up for the next edition. 📚
