This week in our series, we're catching up with Jessica, from our Sales team, fresh off a trip to Kotor, Montenegro.
🇲🇪 Where have you just come back from, and why did you go there?
I've just returned from three nights in Kotor, Montenegro. So many of our clients pair Montenegro with a Croatia cruise, and after hearing so much about it, I finally got to see it for myself. I got to experience it exactly as our clients would: the border crossing, the local tours, even a few new excursions on the horizon. It's easy to see why people extend their trip to include it.
🇲🇪 What was your favorite experience from the trip?
There were so many highlights, it's hard to pick just one. Visiting Perast stood out, especially learning the history behind Our Lady of the Rocks. A gnocchi-making class in an 18th-century monastery was a unique way into the local culture. But the experience that really stole my heart was Vido's Prosciutto Smokehouse. Vido doesn't speak English, but his passion for his craft and his home spoke for itself, and it was, without question, the best prosciutto I had in all of Montenegro.
🇲🇪 What was your favorite meal?
Đardin in Perast. We shared a platter of fried olives and fried mussels, followed by mussels in a rich tomato sauce, so fresh and filling we had no room left for dessert. The restaurant sits right on the waterfront, which made it the perfect setting for a relaxed meal.
🇲🇪 Do you have an insider tip for anyone planning a trip to Montenegro?
Let the locals do the driving. The coastal roads are narrow and winding, hugging the water in places, and local drivers navigate them with total ease. It's also worth allowing extra time for the border crossing between Croatia and Montenegro, especially in the busy summer months, but the beautiful scenery waiting on the other side makes it worth it.
