We’re back with our series. This week Luke, Head of our Asia department, has just returned from Japan ✨
🇯🇵 Where have you just come back from and why did you go there?
I’ve just come back from 10 days in Japan, traveling through Tokyo, Hakone, and Kyoto, revisiting some of our favorite places and gathering fresh insight for our Japan trips.
🇯🇵 What was your favorite experience from the trip?
Most of our group were first-time visitors to Japan. Experiencing the country through their eyes and watching them fall in love with it, moment by moment, was incredibly rewarding.
🇯🇵 What was your favorite meal?
Two unforgettable sushi experiences stand out. At the beginning of the trip, we had a superb omakase at the legendary Kyubey in Tokyo. Then, on our final night, we embraced the fun of a classic kaiten sushi experience at Kura in Kyoto, where sushi, udon, beer, and soft-serve ice cream arrive at the table at the press of a button.
🇯🇵 Do you have an insider tip for anyone planning a trip to Japan?
Travel slower. Japan is incredibly rewarding when you spend more nights in fewer places. I’d also recommend adding a quieter “breathing space” between the cities, somewhere with rural scenery, hot springs, and time to pause.
