Your first evening in Oban: keep it simple 🌅

After travelling, checking in and getting settled, you don’t always need a big plan.

A walk along the waterfront, fish & chips on the pier, a drink at Markie Dans if the sun is out, or somewhere cosy like the Oban Inn if the weather turns.

If you still have energy, a wander up to McCaig’s Tower is always a good way to get your bearings, especially on one of those evenings when the sunset over the bay is doing its thing.

One of our favourite tips for guests visiting Oban in summer?

Stay close to town, park the car up, and walk where you can.

When Oban is busy, it makes such a difference being able to wander to the esplanade, cafés, shops, ferry terminal, restaurants and pier without worrying about traffic or parking.

At peak times, it’s often quicker to walk anyway - and if you’re planning an island trip, foot passenger tickets can often be easier to arrange than taking the car on the ferry.

That’s why we share practical parking and arrival information with guests before they arrive, so they know what to expect and can settle in more easily.

☀️ Summer in Oban

With the glorious weather we are having, we’re getting excited about summer in Oban.

When the sun shines here, it’s hard to beat.

A walk along the esplanade with an ice cream stop at The Pokey Hat ,fish & chips on the pier while the boats come and go, or a trip out to Wee Ganavan for a quieter beach spot and chance to get your toes in the water.

Simple things, but pretty perfect.

Bring layers - it’s still the west coast.
Book ahead for restaurants and island trips.
Leave a bit of time just to wander.
