TOP TIP THURSDAY – Tuscany 🌻

Hi, Martin here 👋🏻 Italy is my favourite place in the world, so this Thursday here are my Top Tuscany Tips!
🕰️ Flight time 2:35. Fly Ryanair or Aer Lingus to Pisa & then take a train to Florence or Lucca. You can also fly to Bologna or Rome, but the Eternal City is a 3-hour drive up the motorway.
🗺️ Florence is the capital of Tuscany. The other main cities are Siena, Pisa, Arezzo & Lucca. I recommend staying 1-2 weeks.
🌆 Tuscany is amazing for cultural experiences. Florence has the Uffizi Gallery, Ponte Vecchio & the Duomo to marvel at. In Siena, in July, you can watch the Palio horse race. In Lucca, you can rent a bike and whizz around on the medieval city walls or attend an open-air concert at Piazza Napoleone during the Lucca Festival.
🏰 Rent a car and drive or take a bus from the city for a day trip to the beautiful hilltop medieval towns of Pienza, Cortona, Monteriggioni, Certaldo or tiny Volpaia. In San Gimignano, known as “Medieval Manhattan” because of its amazing towers, you can choose from 2 of the world’s best ice cream shops. And literary lovers should visit Volterra, famously mentioned in Dante’s Divine Comedy.
🌡️Try to visit in May to June or September to October, when it will be warm and sunny in the mid 20s. Summer can be very hot and crowded.
🍷Tuscany is where Chianti wine comes from! Montepulciano Nobile, from Southern Tuscany, is far superior to Montepulciano Abruzzo by the way. And try the Brunello which comes from Montalcino, another beautiful hilltop town in southern Tuscany.
🍝Food wise you must try "Cinghiale" (wild boar) with pasta or in a stew. "Pici" is Tuscan pasta, like thick spaghetti and is fantastic with "cacio e pepe" (cheese & pepper sauce).
🏛️ This is my TOP SECRET especially for you! Bagno Vignoni is a Roman bath village, with a large pool in its central square. You can bathe your feet for free in the hot sulphur stream running down the hill just outside the village. Quite an experience!
