Last week our former guide and friend Carlos shared this great photo with us — a mother polar bear relaxing in front of a glacier on the East coast, with two cubs.

For many visitors, the polar bear is at the very top of their Arctic wildlife wish list when coming here. And we understand why — seeing a polar bear in its natural habitat is truly special.

Spitsbergen, however, is so much more than polar bears.
It’s about the raw nature, the vast wilderness, the Arctic silence, the powerful glaciers, and the rich history of this remote place. Arctic wildlife is simply the cherry on top.

Come here with an open mind and you’ll discover the true beauty of this island — and if you’re very lucky, you might even spot a polar bear along the way. 🤍
