Husky Travellers

Husky Travellers Dogsledding on Spitsbergen, Svalbard. Winter, outdoor activities. Dogs welfare is our nr 1 priority. We can also design a trip that meets your desires.

We (Tommy Jordbrudal and Janne Søreide) run a small family business and offer guided dogsledding tours for small groups. Join us on a trip with our dogs and experience the unique arctic landscape driving a small dogteam. We also offer trips by dogsled to the Scott-Turner glacier and while the dogs take a rest we walk down inside the glacier for hundreds of meters with no other light than from our

headlamps. We have been running dogs on Svalbard since 1997 and we have both participated in some of the worlds toughest long distance races like the Iditarod and Finnmarksløpet. Besides races, our dogs have also been travelling expeditions to the north pole and trips lasting several weeks around Spitsbergen. We have learned that in order to have dogs that can perform in long distance races and also travel to the North Pole, they deserve proper training, the best dog food on the market, and lots of love and attention. We offer tours by request, usually for groups of up to 4 persons. Contact Tommy for more information and prices:

Today the story of Foxi - our dear lead dog - running the longest sleddog race in the world Iditarod in Alaska was published in English! Thanks so much Line Nagell Ylvisåker to write the incredible story to Foxi and to Kelsey Camacho who translated the book to English! Great to also have Iditarod champion Brent Sass from Alaska present at the event - last time he visited was in 2016🐾🥰 Maybe another true adventure when tiny Foxi-girl was leading the team to the North Pole will make it to a book as well😉

Wonderful landscape and amazing guests and dogs during our cold but very beautiful trip this Easter to Eastern Svalbard! More than 200 km crossing glaciers, travelling sea ice and stopping by the stunning glacier ice cave in Marthabreen in Reindalen. Relaxing the last night- after 5 nights in tent - in our comfortable lodge Reinheim in Tverrdalen. Trails we had to make ourself - most of our route is placed in areas not allowed for snow mobiles.
Today we started a new 7 days expedition - this time with Svalbard folkehøgskole and the clever young adults who have prepared and trained for this expedition since August last year - we wish them a fabulous week with their 4-legged friends 😊🐾🐾

Sun is back and the real winter-exploring season is now starting! Last weekend we checked the conditions for our upcoming week-long dogsledding expeditions. Last chance to do this with snow mobile since from today (1st of March) this area will be closed for motorized traffic. Very nice conditions this year - even sea ice around the critical "Kapp Dufferin" point at the East Coast - so this looks very promising. We also checked out the blue amazing ice cave in Reindalen - super to camp by running water when you travel with 50 huskies. The ice cave is only 1 day travel from our lodge Reinheim in Tverrdalen 🐾🐾🥰

Our dear Suggen left us today - rest in peace ❤ We are so grateful for the 15 years we got together. You have been such an enrichment for us and good team player. Thanks for all the small and big adventures in Svalbard, Alaska and to the North Pole. You have done it all - from the short walks to the longest dog race in the world Iditarod. You will be missed......
