What’s it really like for a travel advisor when their clients are traveling? Most people assume our job ends once the trip is booked. In reality, that’s when a different kind of work and emotion begins.

We send those “Have a great trip!” emails, but behind them is genuine excitement for our clients and a quiet hope that every detail comes together perfectly.

While they’re traveling, we’re often thinking about them more than they realize.

We worry about flight delays.

We worry about hotel snafus.

We hope every transfer, excursion, and reservation runs smoothly.

At the same time, we don’t want to be a bother by constantly checking in, so we wait and hope that no news is good news.

We secretly hope clients will share photos from their adventures, though that rarely happens in real time. So instead, we travel alongside them through Facebook posts, Instagram stories, and the occasional tagged photo.

Being a travel advisor means celebrating from afar while also taking responsibility for ensuring someone’s long-awaited vacation becomes the experience they dreamed of.

Being a travel advisor means celebrating from afar while also carrying the responsibility of making sure someone’s long-awaited vacation becomes the experience they dreamed of.

Then comes the moment they return home safely. We breathe a sigh of accomplishment and relief.

Where are my clients this week? Danube Cruise, Greece, Alaska Cruise, and a Caribbean Cruise!

And almost immediately, we start working on the next trip. Because for travel advisors, the journey never really ends.

The Big Island has beaches with green sand and black sand because volcanic minerals like olivine and basalt naturally color the shoreline. One of the few true green-sand beaches on Earth is found there at Papakōlea.

One surprising fact about river cruising is that many river ships can dock right in the center of major cities, often within walking distance of historic districts and landmarks, because rivers were the original “highways” where cities were built.

For example, a river cruise on the Danube River can let you step off the ship directly into the heart of cities like Budapest or Vienna, unlike ocean cruises that usually dock far from downtown areas.

Curacao Fun Facts
One fun fact about Curaçao is that it’s home to a natural phenomenon called the Blue Room, an underwater cave that glows an electric blue when sunlight reflects through the water. Snorkelers and divers often describe it as looking like something from a fantasy movie.

Another surprising fact: the island’s famous blue-colored liqueur, Blue Curaçao, is actually flavored with the dried peel of the local laraha citrus fruit, a bitter orange that evolved on the island after Spanish oranges couldn’t adapt to the climate.
