Yesterday, The Phantom of the Opera cast member and Corvallis native Krista Wigles, who plays The Wardrobe Mistress, visited Beaverton's Arts & Communication Magnet Academy to teach musical theater and choir students vocal and choreography excerpts from "Masquerade".

Last week, we hosted our very first Broadway in Portland Career Day at Keller Auditorium! 🎭

From backstage to technical roles, they explored the many pathways theater offers - right here in our city. The event highlighted how theater enriches not just our culture, but our local economy as well.

We’re excited to continue creating and supporting educational opportunities in Portland. Stay tuned for what’s next!

Broadway in Portland's first Career Day at Keller Auditorium was a huge success! 250 students from 10 Portland-area high schools came to learn about the wide range of careers in the theater industry, as well as the multitude of pathways to continuing education and employment.

Students were able to get behind the scenes access with local and national talent via interactive workshops from each of the following career tracks: Theater Technology, Costume & Makeup, and Business of Theater.

A huge thank you to our event partners, Portland’5 Department of Culture and Community, IATSE Local 28, Portland Public Schools' Visual and Performing Arts Program, Portland Public Schools' Career + Technical Education, and Portland-area arts educators.

We look forward to creating the next educational opportunities for future generations of theater professionals!
