With this team from Investec…outside the original home of Investec in Johannesburg haha!

55 Fox Street, in Marshalltown, is the original home of Investec in Johannesburg…and from these origins, it has grown into a Financial Giant that has local and international interests spanning the globe.

We gave them a walk around Marshalltown, highlighting the rich mining heritage of this area and used the information boards along Main Street to show them what life was like during Joburg’s origins.

Everyone was fully excited and fascinated to learn about Joburg’s early days when it was just a small mining town run by its first mine bosses and their financial backers hehe!

Always a great time hosting locals and reminding us of the rich history, this City comes from.

What a rad time with Samantha (🇿🇦/🇺🇸) exploring the City while skating…

Samantha is actually South African but her family emigrated to the States when she was very young as her father got a job opportunity in the banking sector in the late 90s!

She tries to come home to see her cousins and extended family and this time was no different…

Since she missed the taste of home quite a bit, we ended up snacking on Chips and Russians as it was/is a taste that she remembers from when she was young playing around with friends in the West of Joburg (Roodeport/Krugersdorp) haha!

A few weeks ago at the with some cool people and faces haha!

We took along some friends to break bread with us in Yeoville as for many of them it was either their first time into Yeoville, a step back into time for those that spent some wild years in Yeoville (Francis haha!) or merely wanting to share food, stories and good company with like-minded people!

We were lucky that just happened to be in Joburg before making his way to CPT for the Montreux Jazz Festival which added a layer of rich musical history and conversation to the night!

We always love bringing people here and always recommend it as a “Must Do” experience when you’re in Joburg…nothing beats sitting on the balcony taking in the sights, sounds, light and ambience of Rockey Street on a storied night - see 3rd slide!

Big Up and Thank You to the Gastronomic Smuggler for always providing a playground for inquisitive and exploratory minds to meet - 👊🏾!

Martha is currently based in Eswatini and decided to visit Joburg (in-between Business Conferences 😅) to come check it out…

…she had heard murmurs of this City and all the complications it comes with and decided to come see and experience it for herself…

…it would be safe to say, she left with a smile on her face!

…just a bunch of cool kids in a Cool City!

This group of University students from USA 🇺🇸 were interested in “Street Art as a form of Protest” so loved a lot of the stories and inspirations behind some of the iconic works in and around Maboneng!

The iconic installation of Mama Yvonne Chaka Chaka by (in the background) was a favourite of the students once they learnt a bit more about the inspiration behind Vhils’ technique of stripping away paint as opposed to adding paint…always a look of fascination and appreciation when guests hear about it haha!

A fun morning with smart and inquisitive students enjoying their time in Johannesburg!

Stefania (🇩🇪) loving these throw-ups by and Tcup…she was excited to see if there was any graffiti by female writers/artists and was absolutely ecstatic when we showed these two haha!

Stefania just loves Graffiti and has travelled the world’s cities in search of it - she’s been to Bogota, Barcelona, London, Berlin, Prague, Marseille, Sydney and so many more places and said that it’s how she gets a feel of a city and its energy…through the work of Graffiti Writers and Artists!

On top of the Graffiti, she also loved the energy and people she met in Maboneng haha - she met a few of our friends from the neighbourhood and loved getting an opportunity to engage with people on the ground while learning more about their stories and why they love Maboneng so much!

A lovely afternoon walking the streets of MABS taking in its walls, people, culture and energy!

Exploring Maboneng on a Team Building immersion with these dope colleagues from across the world (🇺🇸 🇬🇧 🇿🇦)…and Joburg’s Graffiti did not disappoint!

We had a great time with this multinational team of colleagues who were looking for something slightly different for the team building day.

Moving around Maboneng they enjoyed learning about the areas evolution from 2009 to today as some of the local team mentioned that they’d either last been to Maboneng before 2017 or had not set foot here since its inception haha…

The one thing that everyone enjoyed though was the areas rich spread of Graffiti Tags and Masterpieces…most were quiet fascinated to learn a bit more about the stories behind some of the larger works and artists who did them!

Things are constantly in flux when it comes to Joburg, best thing you can do is move with the changes instead of complaining about what used to be…Jozi is constantly spitting out the old and spewing in the new - move with it and you won’t be disappointed!

Our Dutch 🇳🇱 guests, Sue-Anne and Michelle, enjoying the local brands and Graffiti in Braamfontein!

We popped into where our guests learnt about the story of Bathu, its creator/founder Theo Baloyi and the exciting new range of athletic/sports sneakers that they’ve released recently…have to say, we loved the more athletic style sneakers as they did look and feel fresh 👌🏾!

For both Sue-Anne and Michelle, it was about exploring local brands and the inspiring entrepreneurs who are pushing their ideas forward while creating employment opportunities for the youth while also adding to the overall coolness of Johannesburg’s cultural landscape!

The Graffiti was simply the cherry on top for both, as they loved the cultural offering found in this precinct and were excited to hear about how the youth will be playing an important role in defining the culture of Braamfontein moving forward.

A fun afternoon with Sue-Anne (her second tour with us 👊🏾) and Michelle…thanks for always supporting us 🙌🏾!

Mom and Daughter, Patricia and Jessica 🇺🇸, loving the Graffiti and Street Art found in Maboneng!

We had a fun morning with these two who requested a private tour of Maboneng for its Graffiti - they were adamant that they wanted a private tour so that they won’t feel rushed as they are big fans of Graffiti and enjoy doing these tours when they travel.

And since they love Graffiti, we did pop past to see Drake’s exhibition on the walls while also taking home something to remember Jozi’s Graffiti by!

Thanks so much for teaching us a bit more about Saguaro Trees and how old they have to be before growing arms haha…you learn a new thing everyday.

We had a great time with these two walking through Braamfontein as they were both interested in getting a better sense of Joburg.

They opted for the Braamfontein Tour as they wanted a mix of Street Art, Local Brands and popular Street Food in Joburg so we got some slap chips and russians along the way!
