A fun morning out with the family of one of our favourite Joburg people, checking out the City’s Graffiti, Street Art and History!

Ranging in age from 8 - 60+, the City had a bit for everyone…

…the different tags/burners/throw-ups kept the younger ones engaged…

…stories of the City’s music and underground party scene excited the teens/students = AND Club et al haha…

….an exchange of experiences and stories in Braamfontein, Newtown and Maboneng from 2010 - 2026 with the groovingtons (25 - 40) was a fun recollection of crazy moments, hilarious throwbacks and party spots that are no more…

…while the Grandparents enjoyed walking the streets and sharing their version of what Joburg was like in the 60s - 90s…super fascinating learning about Joburg from this perspective!

Always a great time with Joburgers that still see the magic the City has to offer - thank you Heather for organising and bringing everyone along!

All smiles after dinner with the Gastronomic Smuggler of Yeoville…

Last week we hosted our American 🇺🇸 guests for dinner at the as part of their research for a planned trip next year with a much larger group of high school students (50+)…

Their choice is between visiting South Africa or visiting Kenya for 4 weeks so we wanted to show them why they should choose SA by showing them what they can experience in Joburg!

The dinner in Yeoville gave them a great opportunity to engage with the story and rich history of one of Joburg’s most culturally diverse neighbourhoods while also meeting and conversing with locals from different walks of life i.e. Chef, Doctor, Media Personality, Teacher, Social Media Influencer etc….

Tying everything together was the African food on the table - inspired by Chef Sanza’s travels all across the world - accompanied by his amazing storytelling and stories of meeting some really cool and eclectic characters from all over the globe!

The is an absolute “Must do” on any Johannesburg itinerary…and we never tire of taking (and recommending) our guests there!

Lunch at “The Verander” rooftop at the after a fun Johannesburg Walking Tour with this team from Standard Bank!

This group - from the Brand Activation department - was interested in the Art and Street Culture scene around Marshalltown with a focus on creative entrepreneurs around the Inner City and what a fun day we had…

We visited the following places in Marshalltown…

- learning about the travels and inspiring story of founder Sebo!

- hearing the interesting story of Founder Griffin and how he came to create this dope concept!

- empowering the youth through the textile and fashion design industry…a really exciting journey through the academy and seeing the students in action!
skateboards - a local skateboard and street wear brand…great fun seeing custom painted decks and learning about how skateboards are pressed and made (last slide)

This was such a fun time with the group and we finished it all off with lunch and drinks at Braamfontein’s newest rooftop at the 🍸🍻🥂!

We love doing immersions and team-building tours with local companies as it allows us to share the culture of the City with brands and companies that wouldn’t ordinarily engage with the City from the Street Culture level…we love it!

Coffee breaks at with our Boston Consulting Group crew on our Johannesburg Walking Tour!

We enjoyed a fun Friday afternoon with this group of 4 walking across Marshalltown, City and Suburban and Maboneng with the aim of giving them a better context of the inner city’s development(s) post COVID as they work with to create better people-centres spaces across the City.

While for some this was their first time in the City in any capacity, for some it was a rekindling of a space they used to call their stomping ground…

It’s always interesting getting Joburg locals and South Africans from different backgrounds on these tours as it’s always fascinating (and eye-opening) to hear their pre- and post tour ideas of Joburg’s inner city…makes for some entertaining conversations haha!

Our guests Louis and Esther - visiting from Singapore 🇸🇬- loved the stairwell and current exhibition by .makes at on our Graffiti and Street Art Tour!

Both Louis and Esther are passionate Street Art photographers so booked a private Graffiti and Street Art Tour so they had as much time as possible to take their pictures!

They really enjoyed visiting Grayscale Store and Gallery on the tour as they always enjoy visiting local Graffiti stores when travelling - as you can see, the piece on the stairwell was a favourite for Esther because it caught her off-guard as we were walking up the stairs haha!

With this team from Investec…outside the original home of Investec in Johannesburg haha!

55 Fox Street, in Marshalltown, is the original home of Investec in Johannesburg…and from these origins, it has grown into a Financial Giant that has local and international interests spanning the globe.

We gave them a walk around Marshalltown, highlighting the rich mining heritage of this area and used the information boards along Main Street to show them what life was like during Joburg’s origins.

Everyone was fully excited and fascinated to learn about Joburg’s early days when it was just a small mining town run by its first mine bosses and their financial backers hehe!

Always a great time hosting locals and reminding us of the rich history, this City comes from.

What a rad time with Samantha (🇿🇦/🇺🇸) exploring the City while skating…

Samantha is actually South African but her family emigrated to the States when she was very young as her father got a job opportunity in the banking sector in the late 90s!

She tries to come home to see her cousins and extended family and this time was no different…

Since she missed the taste of home quite a bit, we ended up snacking on Chips and Russians as it was/is a taste that she remembers from when she was young playing around with friends in the West of Joburg (Roodeport/Krugersdorp) haha!

A few weeks ago at the with some cool people and faces haha!

We took along some friends to break bread with us in Yeoville as for many of them it was either their first time into Yeoville, a step back into time for those that spent some wild years in Yeoville (Francis haha!) or merely wanting to share food, stories and good company with like-minded people!

We were lucky that just happened to be in Joburg before making his way to CPT for the Montreux Jazz Festival which added a layer of rich musical history and conversation to the night!

We always love bringing people here and always recommend it as a “Must Do” experience when you’re in Joburg…nothing beats sitting on the balcony taking in the sights, sounds, light and ambience of Rockey Street on a storied night - see 3rd slide!

Just Martha (USA, 🇺🇸) adding colour and handling business (2nd Slide) in the streets of Joburg haha 👊🏾!

Martha is currently based in Eswatini and decided to visit Joburg (in-between Business Conferences 😅) to come check it out…

…she had heard murmurs of this City and all the complications it comes with and decided to come see and experience it for herself…

…it would be safe to say, she left with a smile on her face!
