Sanctuary Mandela was a memorable and surreal experience - they had visited the Mandela house in Soweto the day before and it came as a bit of a shock to see the the contrast in living conditions between the two homes haha…welcome to Joburg 😁!

Cultural Diversity is easily our single greatest strength in Joburg - if you can appreciate that, then Joburg becomes the Mecca of all the world’s cities!

Corner Store Chronicles, Street Art and Culture with these fun ladies from Brazil 🇧🇷 - we had a really fun time on this one haha!

These ladies are friends that travel together at least once a year and this time they chose to do South Africa!

We did a Maboneng Street Art and Culture tour with them with the highlight being a visit to the corner store to buy a few items they needed for their travels - they commented that corner stores in both Brazil and South Africa are the real plugs for travellers especially when they need frivolous but important items i.e. phone charger, snacks, SIM Card etc.!

“Braam” stepping with these dope guests from USA 🇺🇸!

We hosted this group of 8Pax on their last day in South Africa before flying home - originally travelling as a group on an overland safari tour for 2 weeks, they wanted to see some of the City after being in the bushes for a while!

They all loved for it’s old school decor but modern and fresh feel; we also dropped by to take in the colourful “Playground” exhibition by and tattoo studio in the back…a few were tempted to get flash tattoos too haha!

Anu, Nina and Lena from Canada 🇨🇦 taking in the Graffiti and History in Soweto this past weekend!

We had an amazing time hosting this group over two days in both the City and Soweto - reflective questions, critical discussions, churros, carrot cake, home visits and just a lovely time spent with all three!

They wanted to get a sense of the history of Johannesburg, day-to-day life in the City, contemporary and historical Soweto, history of Indian migration to South Africa and how young people feel about the future of the country…

…it was quite a lot we had to cover but enjoyed every last second of it!

As much as we love the City, it’s always great to showcase life in different parts of Johannesburg so thank you to our Soweto connects for helping on this one…BIG LOVE!

Good times and good vibes with Sara, Nina and Nina from Germany 🇩🇪!

All three ladies are air hostesses and decided to take a breather from their hotel to take in a bit of the City!

We chopped it up in Maboneng where they really enjoyed all the Street Art, Graffiti, Art and Craft and people they encountered…they rounded off their afternoon with some beers before heading back to their hotel!

All three are pretty well travelled so regularly sneak away from their hotels to do walking tours in any City they find themselves in, this time was no different - while they enjoyed the soft life in Melrose, they were also keen to explore the hustle and bustle of the City!

And we’ve said before, Joburg is a very culturally diverse City with each area giving you its own recognisable vibe - we embrace it all and love it to the max!

A wonderful Sunday afternoon exploring Maboneng with this fine group from the UK 🇬🇧!

Thank you to for bringing us onto this one - with a total group size of 65 people, we worked with to break the group up into smaller numbers with each guide getting a 15 - 20pax group!

In our group, we had a gentlemen who used to work at Standard Bank in Simmonds Street in the 2000s, another who was interested in the redevelopment of old factories/warehouses into apartments as this is what is happening in his neighbourhood and another who was a bit too happy to remind us of the British & Irish Lions series victory in 1997 as we walked past Ellis Park!

The more people we meet, the more we realise that the same things that affect us or that we care about, are similar to the things that affect others and that others care about in different parts of the world…it’s an illuminating experience!

We are open this Thursday 1 MAY for Workers Day so boom yourself a tour with us and let’s explore the City!

City Slicking with these amazing students from Egmont Højskolen from Denmark 🇩🇰!

Egmont HS is an an inclusive folk high school that has a nature-based and nature-focused approach to their curriculum where students from all over the world learn together in an environment that’s all about embracing cultural diversity!

The school was started by Oluf Lauth in 1956 to allow differently-abled students to have the opportunity to learn amongst other students in a normal high school environment - Oluf himself had cerebral palsy but that did not hold him back and believed that by working together, each student will have the rich experience of being a learner at the school!

A wet morning, but an entirely enjoyable time meeting, engaging and joking with the students from this amazing school!

Johanna works in the legal field and thoroughly enjoyed browsing through the books at as they are/were a fantastic source of information on both South African and African History 🤩…very helpful for her in her field of work!

Our Braamfontein Tour is all about highlighting some of the hidden gems and pockets of culture found in this neighbourhood - after all, Joburg is often about scratching beneath the surface, more so in the City than anywhere else!
