📸 What an unforgettable day! 🏛️✨

Today we were so thrilled to be joined by visitors from all across the UK, Ireland, and even the USA - alongside alumni spanning the 1970s right up to the 2000s! 🌍❤️

We were especially honored to welcome Peter, a schoolmate and friend of John Lennon’s. Peter used to ride his bike to school with John, lived next door to Rod Davis of The Quarrymen, and brought along an original 1955 photo of their school year (featuring John himself!). Listening to him share his firsthand memories right here on site was pure magic. 🚲🎶

Peter’s friend, also an alumni, and also called Peter (!) recalled how Headteacher Bill Pobjoy would stand on the stage with his toes hanging off the edge - swipe for his pose! And swipe for a photo of mega-fan Derek from Peterborough, with our collection of Quarrymen instruments on the actual stage of their - and John Lennon’s - first ever gig! 🤩

We are so blessed by the fans and alumni who join us. Your stories, personal history, and memories continuously enrich our tours and help us build on the research we do every single day. 🙏❤️

A massive thank you to our friends at Strawberry Field Liverpool and the legendary Charlie of Tour Guide/ Tourism Advisor for today’s fantastic collaboration tour, and for your constant support since day one! 🍓❤️

It was a pleasure to welcome Grammy Award winning guitarist Tommy Emmanuel to our school yesterday, to perform some Beatles tunes on the very first stage of John Lennons first ever performance at our school dance in 1956 on the same model guitar (Gallotone Champion) that John played all those years ago.

Tommy was shown around Quarry Bank (Calderstones) by our tour guide, Tom, as well as a quick stop to visit our friends at Strawberry Field to see the new Rose Garden to honour Sir George and Lady Judy Martin, who Tommy worked and became life long friends with.

Come and see ground zero in the story of The Beatles for yourself on our next tour of Quarry Bank, August 7th. Tickets available in our bio.

🎸 The Day the World Changed 💫

Today, July 6th, marks one of the most momentous anniversaries in music history. On this exact day, a young John Lennon met Paul McCartney at St Peter’s Church in Woolton - the spark that changed the world forever. ⚡❤️

For us here at the school, today also brings back an incredible, spine-tingling memory from this exact day in 2023, when we hosted the unforgettable Quarrymen Homecoming gig. Three years ago, the original members of the band that became The Beatles, Rod Davis and Colin Hanton (and friends) stepped back onto our historic school stage for the first time since they last played on it with John Lennon.

Hearing those legendary songs played on the very stage where John found his musical voice was pure magic. 🏛️🎶

👀 Could history repeat itself?

We love guarding this incredible legacy, and we believe the best stories always come full circle. We can’t say too much just yet... but The Quarrymen just might have one more chapter to write on our stage sooner than you think... 🤫

In the meantime, you can come stand on that legendary stage yourself next Sunday, 12th July!

🎟️ Tours run at 10 AM & 12 PM next Sunday (alongside our massive community Car Boot Sale!).
🎁 Plus, every ticket booked includes a FREE authentic school tie or John Lennon mug.
