🎸 70 YEARS LATER: THE QUARRYMEN ARE COMING HOME! 🎸

In late 1956, a group of Quarry Bank schoolmates stepped onto our stage with a 16-year-old John Lennon - and quietly changed music history forever. 🌟

On Saturday, 28th November, history comes full circle.

We are honoured to announce THE QUARRYMEN: 70TH ANNIVERSARY HOMECOMING at Quarry Hall (Calderstones School)!

Original band members Colin Hanton and Rod Davis (alumni) are returning to the stage of Rod & John’s school and first ever gig, to perform live and answer your questions in an intimate Q&A! 🎤🎶 They will be joined by well-respected Beatles author and musician David Bedford (bass) and brilliant piano player Henry Lowe (keys) – son of the late great John Duff Lowe, original Quarrymen pianist.

WHAT TO EXPECT:
✨ Live Q&A & 1950s skiffle performance with Colin, Rod & friends
🏛️ The return of John Lennon’s original school desk & archive registers
🎥 Exclusive unseen video interviews featuring Julia Baird & Guy Chambers

Whether you were there in the 50s/60s, went to Quarry Bank, love Beatles history, or just enjoy fantastic live music and Liverpool heritage, this night is for you!

Paul McCartney joined John Lennon, along with The Quarrymen for the first time on stage at New Clubmoor Hall, 69 years ago today, with Paul taking a special solo of Arthur Smiths ‘Guitar Boogie’.

“For my first gig, I was given a guitar solo on ‘Guitar Boogie’. I could play it easily in rehearsal so they elected that I should do it as my solo. Things were going fine, but when the moment came in the performance I got sticky fingers; I thought, ‘What am I doing here?’ I was just too frightened; it was too big a moment with everyone looking at the guitar player. I couldn’t do it. That’s why George was brought in.”

Despite this account by McCartney some people claim (including Colin Hanton) that Paul made his debut with The Quarrymen much earlier than Clubmoor Hall, with St Peter’s Saturday night dances and Wilson Hall skiffle contest being in contention to the claim.
